Triple role for Anupam Kher in Chashme Buddoor remake
It is the season of plenty for the Chashme Buddoor remake in Goa. Ever since David mentioned that he was searching for an alternative title for Chashme Buddoor, suggestions on twitter and other public forums have been pouring in.
Says the director, "The titles being suggested are incredible. From Buree Nazar Waala Tera Mooh Lal to Khatte Angoor to Nazarbattu...I'm very confused.
And now with Sai Paranjpye's Chashme Buddoor undergoing a complete image revamp, Anupam Kher who was signed to play a key comic role in Dhawan's film, has a triple role.
Says David, "Anupam's character is completely new to my Chashme Buddoor. He plays three brothers named Suryakant, Chandrakant and Prabhakant."
The idea of turning Kher's role into a triple role apparently materialized when the unit descended on Goa. According to a source, Anupam was meant to be a character who keeps showing up everywhere at the most inopportune time. Everyone in the team thought it would make more sense to have three of Anupam around.
Says David, "See, Anupam has done so much work, so many films and such varied characters. We've to find ways of re-inventing him for the audience. We're having a ball shooting with three Anupams. He plays an army officer, a police officer and a civilian. The three brothers keep fighting all the time, one claiming he's one minute older than the other, and so forth."
Adds Anupam, "I always have a ball shooting with David. I've just returned from the US after shooting with David Russell for The Silver Lining Playboys. Now I'm shooting with another David in Goa. No two films and directors can be more dissimilar."

Ram Gopal Varma's next based on 26/11 terror attacks
Known for making films on current issues, Ram Gopal Varma is ready to start his next flick titled 26/11, which is based on the infamous Mumbai terror attacks. Speaking about the film, Ramu said, "26/11 is a date no Indian will ever forget. The three-day live telecast of the terrorist carnage had people's eyes glued to the television sets across world. Everyone more or less has seen or heard of what happened during that time. But my attempt now would be not only to capture the physical aspect but also behind the scenes aspects of what exactly happened from the time Kasab and rest of the team landed on Amar Singh Solanki's trawler in the high seas, till Kasab's heroic capture by the late Tukaram Ombale at Girgaum Chowpatty. This will be inter-cut with what the various gallant police officers did in their attempt to get the situation under control.
The film would be made for both national as well as the international audiences. It will have completely new cast to create a heightened sense of reality. RGV also added that "After my tryst with so called the underworld films, I would consider this film as a greatest challenge of my career".
Readers maybe aware that, three years back, Varma's walk through the half-burnt hotel accompanied by the then-Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and his actor son Riteish had led to speculations that he might be making a film on the attacks. But Varma denied he was invited by Deshmukh and his son to visit Taj so that he could see the devastation first hand and portray it realistically in a movie. "I only got the idea now. I have enough knowledge and understanding of the events now. Also, at that point the allegations were about Riteish being a part of this project, which he is not," says he.
Varma is being assisted by Rommel Rodrigues, author of 'Kasab, The Face Of 26/11', who has an extensive and encyclopaedic knowledge of the event, but the film will not be based on the book.

What's right: Aamir Khan starrer Talaash is slated for release on 1 June 2012. What's wrong: The first look poster of the film, with Aamir in a hood.
Yes, you read it right! If you got thought that the poster of Talaash that's in circulation has officially been released by the makers of the film, you're mistaken. Producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar and actor Aamir Khan have not yet okayed the first look of the film. Also, it's said that the theatrical trailer of the film will be attached to the prints of Don 2, also produced by Ritesh and Farhan, but the garma garam khabar is that the theatrical trailer isn't ready either. "We may/may not include the theatrical trailer/teaser promo with Don 2," producer Ritesh Sidhwani clarifies.
Also, besides the new theatrical trailer of Agneepath, the first theatrical trailer of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Ferrari Ki Sawaari will be attached to the prints of Don 2.

No gore/bloodshed in ‘Agneepath’: Karan Johar

No
No gore/bloodshed in 'Agneepath': Karan Johar
Karan Johar's Agneepath continues to make news! It's said that Karan has decided to tone down violent sequences in the film, before dispatching the prints overseas. Reason? The Indian diaspora, generally, tilts towards rom-coms, while films depicting violence and bloodshed find limited takers internationally. Perhaps, this must have prompted Karan to trim those scenes.
Karan admits he discussed the issue with the overseas distributor of Agneepath [Eros], but he clarifies, "It wouldn't be right to say anything at this juncture, till we watch the final cut of the film. But I'd like to add that the violence is more in words and emotions in Agneepath. There's no bloodshed, gore or unnecessary violence that may put off the viewer. My director's [Karan Malhotra] fundas are clear. He's aimed the film at the universal audience. There's no cause for worry."
Meanwhile, after creating a dhamaka by unleashing the first theatrical trailer of Agneepath a few months ago, the enterprising producer will kick-start non-stop promotions of the film from 16/17 December onwards, beginning with the 'Chikni Chameli' track, which has been filmed on Katrina Kaif. Besides, the new theatrical trailer of Agneepath will be attached to the prints of Don 2.

'Chikni Chameli' available on internet
After having made the whole world gyrate to her moves with 'Sheila Ki Jawaani', Katrina Kaif is back again with yet another smashing item number called 'Chikni Chameli' in Karan Johar's yet-to-be released film Agneepath. The actress is all set to give her own self competition with some of the dreamiest moves in the Hrithik starrer, the music of which is composed by the duo of Ajay-Atul.
The news however is that the song is actually a remake of the foot-tapping peppy Marathi dance number 'Kombadi Palali' from the famous Marathi film Jatra, which was also composed by Ajay-Atul. When asked about it, Ajay made no qualms in saying that 'Chikni Chameli' happens to be a Hindi version of their Marathi song. He also added that the task was to make the Hindi version even better, which now has Shreya Ghoshal singing it in her signature style.
Meanwhile, ever since Dharma Productions gave internet surfers a chance to listen to the song yesterday via the Agneepath Facebook page, 'Chikni Chameli' seems to have become viral on the internet.
What needs to be seen now is how popular the song gets eventually.

Dam 999: Director meets TN home secretary
While the uncertainty regarding the screening of controversial film Dam 999 in Tamil Nadu continues, the film's director Sohan Roy met the Tamil Nadu home secretary on Monday. The director had met the TN home secretary as per the instructions of the Supreme Court.
At the meeting at Fort St. George in Chennai, Roy apparently told the home secretary what he thought about the ban on the movie. Talking to the media after the hour-long meeting, Roy said the home secretary had questioned him over his visit to Mullaperiyar dam.
The film, released last month, was banned in Tamil Nadu for supposedly taking a pro-Kerala stand in the Mullaperiyar dam row. Roy had approached the Apex Court to lift the ban.

Jackie Shroff reacts to rumour of him being gay

Jackie Shroff reacts to rumour of him being gay
Jackie Shroff and his wife Ayesha are still laughing their heads off about the alleged "interview" that Jackie Shroff gave to a Pakistani website about his sexual preference.
Laughing uproariously as he dismissed the report as pure nonsense, Jackie said, "Can you believe it? Bas ab yehi baqi reh gaya tha. Logon ko kaam-dhanda nahin hai. Bas, yehi sab...For the record I've never spoken to any journalist on this subject and certainly made no such declaration. Main pagal hoon kya? "
Sobering down after another fit of laughter Jackie says, "In any case, what's the big deal about sexual preference? If one is gay, one is gay. If I was, I'd have no qualms in accepting it. But the fact is, I am most certainly not. And I'm surprised at the audacity of the journalist who cooked up this imaginary scandal."
Expressing disgust at the journalist's wild imagination Jackie says, "My wife and I had a good laugh over this. I just looked at her and she looked at me. We burst out laughing. It's so sad. The entertainment industry has just suffered a huge blow. We lost Dev Saab. Instead of remembering him, the news has now veered towards some absurd nonsense about my sexuality. Jeez! Man, we need to sober up."
